Victor Akinode is an AI engineer at McGill University (Mila) in Montréal, where his work spans AI ethics, AI security, and AI governance, including safety evaluation of large language models for African languages. He teaches cybersecurity at AltSchool Africa and speaks at tech events across Africa and beyond.
A first-class graduate of Computer Engineering, Victor has worked on groundbreaking AI projects, including advancing Natural Language Processing (NLP) for African languages at Masakhane. Earlier in his career, he designed an AI-driven Threat Intelligence Platform at KPMG Nigeria, built over 15 software solutions at Veenode, and co-founded Telneting, a subsidiary of Finaflex Technologies Limited.
Passionate about mentorship, Victor has trained over 800 students and 300 professionals in AI, cybersecurity, software engineering and fintech. Through the VA Cybersecurity Mentorship Programme, he continues to empower the next generation of security professionals.
